Diary of a Day dreamer-

I got a  brain, let me make it clear, & in that brain I have got lots of thoughts! These thoughts have their favorite hotspots where their frequency increases tremendously. Like bathroom, in a boring class,  in your bed at night & window panes. In bathroom & in boring class it's more of daydreaming, over optimistic  thoughts or wishful thinking. I used to daydream a lot in class, I still do! Daydreaming is such a beautiful escape. I took the step of day dreaming because I didn't wanted to be found sleeping in class it's such a bad impression on teachers & I look weird when I am half sleeping. Once I was caught half sleeping in my history class. The teacher threw a chalk at me & broke my sleep. After this humiliation I started DDing. It has so many benefits first it's interesting & a good time pass activity. Teachers think you are fully attentive in class.
What I used to DD about? Usual stuff…like the harry potter dream.  Prof. Dumbledore, Prof.  Mcgonnagal & Hagrid come storming in my class. Wish you could see their entry in my dream. Nevertheless as obvious we all staring at them shell shocked! Dumbeldore asks for me. I stand up reluctantly & then they rescue me from that boring lecture & take me with them to  "Hogwarts!"   after this a little MIB comes in the picture ,witnesses memory are erased with the help of neuralyzer. One more? Okay this was before 21st dec 2012 when the apocalypse fever was spread everywhere. Obviously it had to get a place in my DD. As usual our boring class is on then I see outside through the window a gigantic wave is approaching our school. I pull out a remote from my bag & press it! Our school ground starts to shiver like a volcano, something inside of it coming out slowly. All are watching this wide eyed.  A huge UFO like space ship comes out. My creation. I tell all to get inside  thus saving some lives &  becoming a hero. My physics teacher whose lecture was on thinking "I thought this girl was stupid but she's a genius!" I could not dream more as my phy teacher asked me a question which I answered thanx to my friends who were sitting behind me.

Some things to keep in mind while daydreaming in class -
  1. Pay attention at the start of the lecture at least know which topic is being taught.
  2.  keep eyes blinking frequency normal.
  3. Don't keep staring. Move your gaze now & then. Once my friend was DDing. He was staring at mam as if he was listening to her. Mam moved aside but his gaze didn't. he was staring  at wall.  Mam noticed this & he faced a tough question.
  4.  no matter how happy you are in your dream world. Never let a smile come out of that world. If someone notices they would think you are lunatic. Teachers are pro at catching day dreamers so beware!
  5. Don't use this gift frequently as it's pretty addictive. You might miss out on something important in real world. I got so addicted to it that I preferred doing it then studying for exam the next day.  as you may have guessed less marks don't let this blessing become a disguise.
  6. Day dreaming is your right & your property. Use it as you would like. There are no limits. But remember there's a thick line between DD & reality.

Keeping Up With Tradition

Today my post is based  on the age-old tradition of Indian armed forces - sharing accommodation.  I'll be recounting my experiences , pros & cons of each experience that I ever had. Here I go-

With increasing population & less space people  have to often compromise  & make choices  like sharing your quarter with another family.  two families in three rooms sharing bathroom & other facilities. Of course there's some cash flow but at the same time bid adieu to privacy.  It can be either just a good choice or a good choice turned bad. I'll give you an exclusive peek  into our lifestyle  in this blog post- "keeping up with tradition".

  1. Mumbai
  2. I was in 1st std when I had the first taste of this tradition. We shared the quarter with  a Brahmin family. They had one daughter  & one son like ours. The girl was my age so we became good friends. We lived for 2 years together. Till now we are very good family friends.

Pros- We learnt a few  Aartis & that's how we were  introduced  to spirituality.  There were sharing of foods too. If something special was  cooked in their home they would share it with us & vise versa.

Cons- I turned into a vegetarian.

  3. Mumbai
  4. When I reached 3rd std we shifted to another quarter as sharers.  They had 2 sons & aunti's brother yani mama. Both their kids were quite a few years older than me & my elder brother. Spent a peaceful time with them. Being the only girl in both the  families they used to bring me gifts. They too are in touch with us & very good friends.

Pros-  Mamaji used to help me in studies & once drew a sketch  for me  For which I got prize in my school. You must be thinking 'cheating' but my prize was a bar of Doy soap. I also learnt the first english song  of my life "we will rock you" by queen. Of course I didn't understand the lyrics but picked it up as one bhaiya used to sing it quite often.

Cons-  Sadly only for one year.

  5. Gujrat
  6. After the completion of my 3rd std my dad was transferred to Gujrat. In Gujrat we lived with  another family for a brief time. They had no kids. The house was spacious.

Pros-  Our TV was packed so we used to watch their "much better" TV.

Cons- Uncle was talkative & used to recite poems every now & then. Dad was a bit irritated.

  7. Delhi
  8. My dad's next transfer was Delhi. A Rajsthani family  came to live with us. They had three kids - one boy & two girls. The eldest girl used to live in a hostel in orissa. She  only came during holidays. We lived together for one year. It was a 'good choice turned bad' experience. Both the families had a fall out with reasons unknown to me.

Pros-  They had a computer, we were often allowed to move the mouse. My love for music enhanced from there as the quality of music  coming from the computer's speaker was so much better.

Cons- We didn't used to go to their room when they were eating but they used to visit our room mostly when we were eating. We used to  feel uncomfortable. The boy was notorious & turned out to be a bad influence on my brother.

  9. Back to Mumbai
  10. We moved to a new quarter due to urgency. The owner was a teacher from south India.  It was kinda mini zoo with parrots & a dog. The owner behaved like a typical "padosan". Asking for things now & then.

Pros- The house was near to the panipuri stall. That's all.

Cons-  The dog was not toilet trained. Room was not spacious. Cleanliness was the big issue which prompted us to shift again & thank god we found a good place to live.

There we come to the end of my compilation of shifting experiences.  shifting  to a new place is an arduous process but in a way good too. You get to learn adjustment & your social skills will skyrocket like   mine ( lying).

Sea Company

Ocean has always been a part of my fantasy world. its great reach & scenic beauty has always attracted me . Being from a naval family I've had a few meetings with Mr. sea.
My experiences with sea & other waterbodies has been awesome! Sailing in some prestigious ships of Indian navy in Arabian sea, watching dolphins & beautiful birds, doing a 'TITANIC'( stretching hands wide) feeling free . Splashing water on each other with friends at chowpatty ,thinking about our future at marine drive , gossiping at sea-face. Sea has been every where.
U know what would be a perfect day for me - waking up in a beach resort, walking into water, collecting shells, breathing fresh air, hearing the sound of sea which the waves make, just standing there …watching sunrise….taking it all within. Just want to spend these precious moments alone! my most beautiful morning I can imagine.
Then as the day proceeds, joined by my best buddies, playing some adventurous water sports -diving, water skiing, surfing etc & indulging on some delicious sea food.
Then in the evening at sun set -the best part awaits-BONFIRE! Celebrating life with some good music & talking all night long. Then finally going to sleep under the blanket of stars with the music of the waves. Brings a peaceful content & silence in mind. A great way of having time of your life!!

RIGHT TASK GONE WRONG

It was considered a privilege in those days -being the MONITOR of the class. When we were kids it meant a lot. The black badge with bold white words printed on it saying 'MONITOR OF …', it brought with it a feeling of superiority.

In most cases, The strongest candidate of the honor used to be someone  with the most successful experience in being a teacher's pet! I was too but not intentionally it was because I loved getting appreciation & praise. Popularity & responsibility comes with the honor. Everybody wanted to be my friend, I enjoyed it too. There was a competition every week for the title of the most neat & tidy class. The winner class was given a cardboard made golden star. My class never won one. But still I was made the monitor for 3 consecutive years. maybe , NO definitely because of my good grades & participation in co-curricular activities. My teachers were impressed  by me….they often  used to call me for minding other classes as well.

Then I moved to a new place. In the new school the monitor was also moving to a new place. The teacher asked who wants to replace her, almost all hands were up!  4 candidates were chosen & voting was done. I gained the maximum no. of votes & became the monitor. I am a human too (news flash!) & I make mistakes. I was a bit hitlerish. It was a real hard task of minding such a notorious class. There was a girl name pushpalata in our class. She was fat ( sorry). I came with an not so good idea. I said whoever will make noise will have to sit with her. There was a long silence. It worked but not for too long.  pushpalata was hurt & she started crying. I still regret & feel sorry for her.

However in my entire monitor career I had many cat fights too. Too be honest I was bad at being a monitor. I misused my power. I became egoistic. Any classmate who used to go against me, I  had her boycotted from whole class. As no. of protestors increased I had to step down.

Thereafter I never stood for monitorship. But due to my teacher's insistence I once became discipline monitor. All I did was nothing!

This was a glimpse of my monitor career & failure in being one.
